In Avengers: Endgame, fans were surprised to see Red Skull gatekeeping the Soul Stone in Vormir as everyone thought Ross Marquand’s character is dead. We get to see Red Skull in this 2019 blockbuster when Black Widow (played by Scarlet Johansson) and Hawkeye (Clint Barton) go back in time to Vormir to seek the soul stone.

In the film, when Black Widow sacrifices herself, Hawkeye manages to get the soul stone. However, they don’t fight Red Skull who was guarding it for so long. So what happened to his character? Well, this is the mystery that Marvel has to solve now. But before that, Ross shared that there are chances of his character returning to the MCU films.

In an interaction with Nerd4Life, about Red Skull’s future in MCU, Ross Marquand said, “[Directors Anthony and Joe Russo] stated as soon as the Red Skull is launched off the Soul Stone, Thanos will get it after and when Hawkeye will get it, he is primarily free. But when we give it some thought, there’s all these completely different multiverses now. So in a single multiverse, when Thanos frees Red Skull, he is free.
