We are about to relive the best life that was before 2020, as Avengers: Endgame makes its comeback. What makes the re-release special is that the film comes with a few new additions. For those unversed, the additional footage hidden within the long run of Avengers: Endgame Encore also includes a special preview of Avengers: Doomsday.
The re-release arrives nearly seven years after the original film brought Marvel Studios’ Infinity Saga to a close. In case you don’t know, Avengers Endgame: Encore will begin playing in theaters on September 25, 2026.

1. Why Joe Russo Calls Endgame Encore “Required Viewing” For Avengers: Doomsday?
Avengers Endgame: Encore has become such an important theatrical event for Marvel fans. Joe Russo, who co-directed both Avengers: Endgame and Avengers: Doomsday, has described the Encore presentation as “required viewing” before the December release.
Talking to Fandango, Russo stated that the film is “going to connect the story of the two movies. There’s a natural progression from Endgame into Doomsday, which is also inclusive of all the other stories that have been playing out. But I think it’s important to see Endgame again in theaters for two reasons: One, you’re going to have a lot of fun … and two, I think it’s required viewing for following the story in Doomsday.”
For those unversed, Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive on December 18, 2026. The film will bring Robert Downey Jr. back into the MCU as Doctor Doom and will feature characters from the pages of Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men.
2. Avengers: Endgame Encore Will Bring In New Footage
Being a Marvel fan, watching Avengers: Endgame on the big screen again is a dream come true moment. However, the biggest reason for Marvel fans to return to the theater is the fact that Avengers: Endgame Encore is not exactly the same cut that we all watched in 2019.
The original Avengers: Endgame runs for approximately 181 minutes. Meanwhile, the new Encore presentation adds additional material, with the exact runtime depending on the format.
3. Not Every Endgame Encore Screening Is The Same
This is something Marvel fans should keep in mind before booking their tickets. Not every version of Avengers Endgame: Encore contains exactly the same amount of additional material. It should be noted that the standard screenings add approximately two minutes to the original movie, while selected premium formats, such as IMAX and Infinity Vision, can run about five minutes longer and include a more extensive preview of Avengers: Doomsday.
According to the British Board of Film Classification, a standard presentation is around 183 minutes and 3 seconds. But the Infinity Vision version stretches to approximately 186 minutes and 14 seconds. This means that checking the format listed with your showtime is necessary.
What’s more exciting is that the new footage isn’t simply inserted into the film around the old event where the heroes chase Thanos across the universe and time. The new material provides a connection to Marvel Studios’ upcoming crossover film, Avengers: Doomsday, which is said to detail Robert Downey Jr.’s journey to becoming Dr. Victor von Doom.
4. Endgame Encore Introduces Disney’s Infinity Vision
One of the most interesting facts about Avengers: Endgame Encore is the introduction of Disney’s Infinity Vision program. Endgame Encore will be the first movie released through Disney’s Infinity Vision program. The system is designed to identify existing premium large-format theaters that meet specific technical requirements set by Disney.
According to Disney’s official requirements, qualifying theaters must have a screen at least 45 feet wide, immersive audio (7.1-channel), and meet specific brightness standards for both 2D and 3D presentations.
What’s more exciting is that Infinity Vision now gives moviegoers another premium theater option alongside familiar formats such as IMAX, Dolby Cinema, ScreenX, and 4DX.
5. Avengers: Endgame Encore Also Comes With New Collectibles
While the movie itself has made the fans eager to hit the theaters, the return of Avengers: Endgame is also bringing in some new Marvel-themed collectibles.
It was announced on September 21 that those who book their tickets for RealD 3D and 4DX auditoriums at participating Regal theaters on the opening night of the re-release will get a free limited-edition foil-embossed mini one-sheet, while supplies last.
When Can You Watch Avengers: Endgame Encore?
Avengers: Endgame Encore officially begins playing in theaters on September 25, 2026, with select preview screenings starting September 24. The next grand ensemble in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday, is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026.
