There have been a lot of revelations made recently in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s legal battle. The latest one adding to the list is the Aquaman actress testifying against his ex-husband over the domestic violence row. Below is all you need to know.
Johnny Depp is suing leading daily, The Sun its associate editor, Dan Wootton, over an article where he was termed as a wife-beater. As per latest updates, post several arguments, it has been decided that Amber Heard, who is also the key witness in the case, could provide her evidence on s*xual harassment charges behind the curtains, without the media being involved into it.
However, the lawyers of Pirates Of The Caribbean actor have been terming Amber Heard’s claims as ‘salacious’ and have instead claimed that she’s doing it all only to seek attention. Furthermore, they went onto question her decision of presenting evidence in a closed room.
Johnny Depp’s lawyer in a conversation with The Gaurdian said, “She hasn’t sought anonymity, quite the opposite. Heard’s accusations would be proved to be ‘outright lies’ and they would need to be scrutinised ‘very carefully’. Is it really the case that she is so distressed that it is necessary for the principle of open justice to be overturned?”
The lawyer furthermore slammed the decision of witnessing proofs behind the curtains while Depp was accused of s*xual harassment in public. “He [Depp] is in the worst of all worlds, where it is said very publicly that he committed acts of s*xual violence but the details of them will be heard behind closed doors. The matters which will be dealt with in private are of a different order to what has been made public so far. I am satisfied that there is good reason to treat them differently,” he said.
Meanwhile, it is being said that if Amber Heard is found to have faked her evidences, she might face an imprisonment of 3 years.
