Insidious: Out of the Further has crossed its first major milestone at the worldwide box office. It has also beaten the global haul of the OG film in this franchise. The film is performing decently at the box office. It is already on track to surpass Supergirl’s global haul, with a $150 million-plus budget. Keep scrolling for the deets.

Insidious 6 has pushed the franchise’s worldwide total beyond the $800 million milestone in its opening weekend alone. However, the film experienced a sharp decline in its second weekend at the North American box office. Since it is on a low budget, the film is already a box-office success despite mixed reviews and the absence of the previous cast.

It is the 5th film in the franchise to cross the $100 million milestone worldwide.

Box office summary of Insidious: Out of the Further

  • International – $66.6 million
  • Worldwide – $110.3 million

Edges closer to beating Supergirl

Supergirl is the second film in the new DCU after Superman, but it failed to replicate its box-office success. The Milly Alcock starrer DCU movie has around $152 million more budget than the Insidious installment. For the record, Supergirl was made on a $170 million budget, and Insidious: Out of the Further has an $18 million production cost. The horror movie is about $16 million short of surpassing Supergirl’s worldwide haul once again, underscoring that budget is nothing if the plot fails. Although horror movies need a lower budget compared to superhero flicks, the massive gap between the two makes Insidious 6’s win so impressive.

What is the film about?

It follows a young woman who can interact with spirits and bring them to the mortal world, but is soon haunted by malevolent forces. It is the sequel to Insidious: The Red Door. Insidious: Out of the Further was released on August 21.
