The favorite Looney Tunes characters registered a strong preview haul on Thursday. The live-action animated movie earned a stellar $5.3 million at the domestic box office on its opening day. It was only behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which earned $5.5 million on its fifth Friday. It opened to 3,575 screens in the region on opening day.

Coyote vs. Acme received an awesome A CinemaScore, as well as a 93% positive and 82% definite recommend on Screen Engine/Rentak’s PostTrak. Back in 2023, Warner Bros. announced it would shelve Coyote vs. Acme as part of its global strategy. Following a backlash to their decision, the filmmaker allowed a buyout. The movie is reportedly tracking to earn around $11-$15 million at the North American box office in its debut weekend. It is less than half of Space Jam 2: A New Legacy, the previous Looney Tunes movie, which is $31.05 million. It might not be the best start, but strong word of mouth could make it a big blockbuster.
