After a good weekend that brought in 33.8 crore, Udta Punjab held on well on Monday by bringing in approx 4.50 crores. Considering the fact that Friday was very good at 10.05 crore, the numbers coming in on Monday are fine. In fact if one removes the controversy factor that had helped the film on its opening day, Friday looks even better. As a result, the Abhishek Chaubey directed film has managed to rake in 38.30 in four days flat.
From this point on, the film is on its own as the controversy element has settled down and the word of mouth is coming into play. The film needs to maintain a healthy run rate though for rest of the week and bring in 4 crore at least every day so that it gets into the second week with a good number of shows.
While Delhi NCR and Punjab would have the film in good strength in the second week as well (though Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaarji 2 is arriving as well), rest of the country would be impacted (in case the film falls during the weekdays) since as many as six Hindi releases and one major Hollywood film are also releasing.
