Street Fighter has met expectations during its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The film has grossed over $30 million in its three-day opening weekend at the US box office. The film is only behind Mortal Kombat 2 among fighting video game adaptations.
Paramount Pictures released the movie, which features a star-studded cast, including Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, Andrew Schulz, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Jason Momoa. The film has received a B- on CinemaScore and may see a dip ahead due to mixed word-of-mouth from audiences and critics.
Street Fighter Opening Weekend
The film has registered the franchise’s biggest opening weekend at the US box office. The film grossed $31 million during its three-day weekend. It has marked the second-biggest three-day opening weekend for fighting video game adaptations. It is only behind Mortal Kombat 2’s $38.5 million.

The new film starring Noah Centineo has already earned more than double the opening-weekend collections of the previous Street Fighter movies. It has left behind the 1994 Street Fighter’s opening-weekend collection of $6.9 million and the 2009 film The Legend of Chun-Li’s $4.7 million. Not just that, Street Fighter is aiming to surpass the lifetime run of the 1994 film on its first Monday. The film has already crossed the lifetime run of The Legend of Chun-Li ($8.7 million).
However, the film’s global opening-weekend collection is lower than projected. The film has earned just $20 million in overseas markets. The film’s worldwide collection stands at $51.1 million. The movie was projected to earn $70 million worldwide during its debut weekend.
What Is The Film About?
Street Fighter follows estranged street fighters Ryu and Ken Masters as they reunite after Chun-Li recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament, a brutal showdown fuelled by skill, fate, and fury. However, they soon uncover a deadly conspiracy that forces them to fight each other while confronting the demons of their past.
Street Fighter was released on October 16.
