While most Bollywood insiders expected John Abraham starer Shootout at Wadala to supersede the low budget wonder film Aashiqui 2 at the box office, it was a shock when it surpassed even Special 26 at the box office. While Aashiqui 2 was climbing up stairs of success at box office, a much deserving film got lost in the race.

Shootout At Wadala based on the life of notorious gangster Manya Surve at the end of three weeks has collected a cumulative income of 60.18 crores. The film, which saw an unnatural drop in its earnings after second week, managed to collect only 3.16 crores at the box office in its third week.

Despite commendable performances and a gripping story line, the film which appealed as relishing to the single screen audiences was pulled down by Aashiqui 2 mostly. Claiming a large chunk of the film’s single screen audiences, Shootout At Wadala suffered grievous battering at the domestic box office. Though large expectations were placed on the venture, the film failed to level up to them due to strong competition forces.
