Sardar 2 Box Office: How Much Does Karthi Starrer Need To Surpass Sardar?

Tamil star Karthi is now gearing up for the release of Sardar 2. It is the sequel to the hit 2022 Tamil action film. The hype and buzz around Sardar 2 are good, and fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting its theatrical release. The makers have also taken the sequel a notch higher than its prequel. While the makers have seemingly enhanced the experience, will it be able to surpass the box office performance of Sardar?

How Much Does Sardar 2 Need To Earn To Surpass Sardar?

PS Mithran directed the Tamil actioner, which hit theatres on October 21, 2022. The film was reportedly made on a modest budget of 30 crore. With theatres just coming back to full capacity after the COVID pandemic, the film had a good opening of 3.15 crore net in India. It wrapped up its India total with a net collection of 54.99 crore, equivalent to a gross of 64.89 crore. Overseas, the film earned 20 crore, bringing its worldwide gross total to 84.89 crore.

Sardar 2 will have to earn at least 55 crore net in India to surpass its predecessor. To have an opening bigger than Sardar, the upcoming Karthi film will have to earn above 3.15 crore net, which is highly possible given the buzz around the movie and Karthi’s stardom. Additionally, SJ Suryah has joined the film as the villain, and his appearance in the teaser has already made the film exciting.

The makers unveiled the teaser of Sardar 2 a month ago. It featured stylized action moments with Karthi, a no-nonsense Malavika Mohanan, and SJ Suryah in his epic villain mode. There is truly none like SJ Suryah when it comes to playing a villain with swagger. Karthi will play a double role as a father-son duo in the film. It will be a war of strategies and physical combat between SJ Suryah and the two Karthis. Just like the previous installment, this one might also feature a flashback moment, as the teaser’s segment with father Karthi hints. However, we can learn more about the film when the trailer drops.
