Salman Khan starrer Dabangg 3 released at the Box Office with high expectations.
The 3rd installment of DABANGG franchise starring a SUPERSTAR like Salman Khan was supposed to do at least 300 crores in its real potential. However, it was a non-holiday release with the anti CAA protests in the country playing the spoilsport. The film also lacked the free run of even two weeks which cut down its potential by a huge margin. In this situation, if Dabangg 3 managed to do even 250 crores at the Box Office, it would’ve been a very good result. There was also holiday period in between to help it do that.
But sadly, Dabangg 3 has severely underperformed at the Box Office and has struggled to touch even 150 crores lifetime. The film has collected 147.80 crores in two weeks and is expected to cross the mark in the upcoming weekend.
Interestingly, The lifetime business of another similar genre film i.e. action Saaho (Hindi) which released in Aug last year was 148.50 crores. The film had a Telugu star in the lead and despite under-performing it did this kind of business in the Hindi market. Saaho was also a non-holiday release and didn’t have more than 1-week free run. On top of that, the film was heavily bashed by the critics but still, it surprised everyone because at least single screens audience supported the film. And here a Salman Khan starrer film which is a part of the highly successful franchise doesn’t manage to cross a Prabhas starrer underperformer even in 2 weeks.
No doubt, Prabhas enjoys a huge following in Hindi markets after Baahubali but if Salman Khan’s film in its own region is struggling to cross a Telugu star’s underperforming film than something is wrong somewhere.
And it’s better to find out that issue and resolve it as soon as possible.
