Report Card: The year 2018 is turning out to be a fantastic year for the Hindi film fraternity as the industry has already witnessed 7 Hit films in a span of merely 5 months and this is probably the best start ever to a year this decade. Among the successful films at the Box-Office, it is content which has won over the audience as apart from Padmaavat, all the films surprised majorly in terms of the performance at ticket window.
Out of the 7 Hit films, 4 of them, i.e. Padmaavat, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Baaghi 2 and Raazi have got a tremendous return on investment for the producers and distributors, whereas films like Hichki, Raid and 102 Not Out also did well given the budget and attained the “Clean Hit” verdict. This week saw the release of John Abraham’s Parmanu, and taking into consideration the budget and opening day collections of the film, it is on its course to become yet another successful film for year. However, the collections on Monday will give us an insight about how big a success the film proves to be as the word of mouth is on the positive side.
Apart from the 7 Hindi films, two Hollywood films that did well at the Indian Box-Office are Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2, thereby giving the exhibitors an additional reason to smile. The year also saw the release of a moderately successful film i.e. Padman, which worked decently at the multiplexes in India. Honestly, the year has just begun for Bollywood as June onwards there are big films like Race 3, Sanju, Gold, Sui Dhaaga, Thugs of Hindostan, Total Dhamaal, Zero and Simmba to name a few are up for release, which are expected to set the Box-Office on fire.
