Sajid Khan’s Humshakals had an excellent 1st Friday i.e. opening day at the Domestic Box Office. The film on its first Friday collected 12.50 crores, thus recording the 3rd Highest Opener of the year. Inspite of having a slow start, the film picked up massively later in the day.

Salman Khan’s Jai Ho raked in 17.50 crores on Day 1, while Gunday made an opening day business of 15.50 crores. Humshakals has beaten Holiday and 2 States‘ 1st Friday record of 12.00 crores and 11.75 crores respectively.

The film received a good footfall at the multiplexes for the evening and night shows. On the other hand, the single screens too showed a similar pattern. Interestingly, even though the film has been touted to be below average by the critics, the comic caper coming from Sajid Khan seems to have had no effect of that on the audience.

A strong positive word of mouth has proved beneficial for the film’s business in a major way. Considering the light-hearted nature of the film, a good response can be expected over the weekend too.

Starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor in lead roles, Humshakals has fared best in the Mumbai circuit and the performance has performed even better than the Akshay Kumar starrer Holiday.
