2008 was a landmark year for Bollywood as it gave the industry its first 100 crores grosser. Aamir Khan’s Ghajini released amidst huge expectations and created a storm at the Box Office by crossing Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi by a big margin and collecting 114 crores.
Also, it was the year 2008 only which gave Aamir Khan a force of its own kind. Post Ghajini in 2008 he gave back to back record grossers and helped the industry touch new business benchmarks with films like 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK & Dangal.
But apart from Ghajini & Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, 2008 also had big hits like Singh Is Kinng, Race & Jodha Akbar. Even a surprise hit like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na released this year and managed a place in Top 10.
Emraan Hashmi’s Jannat released this year and emerged a big Hit giving birth to a new franchise. However, the small-budget film did a business of 30.50 crores and sadly couldn’t make a place in Top 10.
