A few days back, the much-awaited trailer of Drishyam: The Conclusion, aka Drishyam 3, was unveiled, and it hit the bullseye. The hype for the film was already there, and all it needed was a strong trailer. The makers released a well-cut trailer, further intensifying the buzz. Now, it could be said that the biggie has the potential to emerge as Ajay Devgn’s biggest opener of all time at the box office. However, is it capable of beating the day 1 worldwide collection of Mohanlal’s Drishyam threequel? Let’s discuss it below!

For those who don’t know, the first two installments of the Hindi Drishyam franchise were remakes of the Malayalam originals. However, for the third installment, it has been officially confirmed that the Hindi version will be different from the Malayalam version. This move is, in fact, being appreciated by everyone, as the Malayalam threequel received a mixed reception for its story and overall content. Naturally, the excitement is high to see exactly what follows the blockbuster Drishyam 2.

Drishyam 3 targets a solid start

Drishyam 3 is scheduled to release in theaters on Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), which is a national holiday. Being a solo holiday release, it is all set for a flying start at the Indian box office, with the potential to score 4550 crore net (5359 crore gross) on day 1. Overseas, it is expected to gross 15 crore or more. Overall, a 6874 crore gross is expected on the first day worldwide.

How much does it need to beat Mohanlal’s threequel on day 1?

Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 had the potential to clock the biggest opening for Mollywood, but it didn’t. Still, it opened strongly, grossing 43.7 crore worldwide. So, to beat the Malayalam threequel, it must score above 43.7 crore gross, which will be comfortably achieved by Ajay Devgn‘s film. So, the Hindi threequel is all set to overtake the Mohanlal starrer by a huge margin.
