Coyote vs Acme is a live-action animated Looney Tunes movie by Dave Green that was released this past weekend. According to The Numbers, Coyote vs Acme collected a solid $15.9 million on its opening weekend at the domestic box office. It is slightly more than the projected range. Internationally, it was released in Lithuania, Bulgaria, Serbia, and Montenegro; the overseas collection was limited. Its overseas gross in the opening weekend is $42k. Including domestic and overseas gross, the film’s worldwide collection is $15.95 million. It will cross $50 million in its second weekend if word of mouth is strong enough. Â

As mentioned earlier, it was made by Warner Bros, and Ketchup later purchased its rights. According to reports, Warner Bros. spent $70 million on production costs. Therefore, based on the industry’s 2.5x multiplier rule, Coyote vs Acme must earn around $175 million at the box office to break even. Meanwhile, Ketchup acquired the rights for $50 million; therefore, to break even, it must earn around $125 million. Overall, the film has to earn between $125 million and $180 million to break even for both and roll over into profitable territory.

The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he teams up with a local personal injury attorney to take on ACME, the manufacturer responsible for the countless malfunctioning products that have plagued him and the Looney Tunes characters for years. Coyote vs Acme was released on August 28.
