According to reports, the R-rated horror was made on a $3 million budget, excluding marketing costs. According to industry rules, Buddy needed around $7.5 million to break even at the box office. It has not only crossed the break-even mark in just ten days but earned significantly more than that. Although it is no Obsession, the film is still a hit, given its low budget and box-office earnings.
What is the film about?
The film follows a group of children who spend their days singing, dancing, and spreading happiness alongside Buddy, a bright orange unicorn and beloved star of the classic children’s television show “It’s Buddy!” But when one child refuses to play along, cracks begin to appear in Buddy’s seemingly perfect world, exposing a darker side to the colorful fantasy.
Buddy was released in the theaters on August 28.
