Box Office: As Mammootty Turns 75, We Take a Look At His Upcoming Films (Photo Credit: Instagram)

Mammootty, who is one of the biggest superstars of Indian cinema, just turned 75. Honestly, he is the only person who is making 75 look so cool. Most of us are still in disbelief that he is 75. It is not just his looks but also his passion and eagerness to deliver different and meaningful cinema with each passing year. And it looks like 75 will be the year he finally enters the 100 crore club.

Not that the superstar needs it. In fact, it would be an honor for the 100 crore club to have the actor. Despite being an actor for 50 years, he continues to dominate the space with his charm and talent. He has fans across age groups and has 5 National Awards for Best Actor to his credit. While the 100 crore club may have eluded him so far, his current line-up hints that it is about to change.

What’s Next For Mammootty?

On his 75th birthday, the makers of his upcoming Tamil movie released a new teaser introducing his character, Burma Karthikeyan. And it presents Mammootty in a way sure to turn theaters into stadiums. He is seen as a wanted criminal in the film with strong political connections. He is the style personified in the teaser. And the 2-minute teaser has left his fans and even non-fans impressed with his swag. If this is the teaser, one can only wonder what the film promises on the big screen.

Interestingly, Om marks Mammootty’s return to Tamil cinema after a long time and also pairs him with Dhanush. What is even more interesting is that the film clashes with Rajinikanth’s Coolie 2. This tease alone promises a mass-market entertainer. While the 100 crore mark seems to be in the film’s fate, it remains to be seen how the clash impacts it. Whatever happens, it will be a fun weekend at the movies for the audience.

Mattancherry Mafia

Meanwhile, in his home ground, he has the highly anticipated film Mattancherry Mafia, which also stars Asif Ali and Naslen. The film is directed by Khalid Rahman and reunites the actor and director after the 2019 film Unda. The Khalid Rahman directorial promises to be a stylish underworld and gangster drama set in the historic Mattancherry area of Kochi. The film has a very solid technical team and will feature Mammootty in a quite stylish avatar, reminiscent of Bheeshma Parvam. It was a film that almost had him in the 100 crore club. What Bheeshma Parvam could not do will most probably be achieved by Mattancherry Mafia.
