Bollywood Box Office Power Index

Parameter for Koimoi.com Bollywood Box Office Power Index

Movies selected from Koimoi 100 crore Club and Koimoi Top 10 Overseas Box Office.

Box Office has become the most important metric to measure success & stature of stars, movies and the industry. Every movie aims to win the race at the box office window and break records be it an Opening Day record, Opening Weekend record, Fastest 100 Crore, 200 Crore, Overseas collections etc. Based on this Koimoi.com has created this Box Office Power Index.

The Weightage has been applied as mentioned below:

  • Each 100 crore club movie has been given 100 points. So the number of movies in the club multiplied by 100 gives power points for 100 crore presence.
  • Each 200 crore club movie has been given 200 points. So the number of movies in the club multiplied by 200 gives power points for 200 crore presence.
  • Each Top 10 Overseas club movie has been given 50 points. So the number of movies in the Overseas list multiplied by 50 gives power points for Top 10 overseas presence.
  • Sum of all the above points is the Total Box Office Power Index Points.
  • When there is tie between 2 stars’ Box Office Power Index Points, then they are placed in the Box Office Power Index Position based on the collections of their respective film.
  • Total Box Office Power Index Points leads to Box Office Power Index Position rating.

  1. Congrats to PK team. I watched the movie at Sozo World, Lahore. It was an amazing experience. First of all, I must clarify that I’m not a big Bollywood fan, haven’t been one for a long time. Probably because they don’t make movies like they used to in the past. Still every once in a while I give it a try when any big star’s movie is released, and every time I come back disappointed. I used to be a big fan of SRK, and I also enjoyed watching movies of Aamir, Hrithik, Salman, Ajay, Sanjay Dutt, Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor. I may still have a soft corner for SRK. But everyone except Aamir have been disappointing over the past many years. Last time I bothered to write about something related to Bollywood was when 3 Idiots released. And now for PK. And in both of these instances, there are two common factors. Aamir Khan & Rajkumar Hirani. I think it’s safe to say that they are bests of Bollywood in their respective area of expertise. They are the saving grace of Bollywood in the midst of garbage products like Happy New Year, Kick, Bang Bang or Singham 2. I wish them all the best, hope they continue to make good movies like PK, and I hope & pray to God that the rest of them come back to their senses, and prove that it’s not all about selling your products, there should be some degree of the passion for the job you do. After all, film making is an art to begin with. Make us believe that you still have passion for the art you create, make us believe in you once again.
