On Sunday, actress Zaira Wasim shocked the entire country by announcing her exit from Bollywood in a span of mere 4 years. She will next be seen in Priyanka Chopra’s The Sky Is Pink.
More than her decision, the reasons behind it grabbed all the attention, as she did it so on the religious grounds. Expectedly, mixed reactions poured in through different mediums especially social media, with also renowned personnel from the industry like Raveena Tandon joining in. Zaira left Bollywood stating that her profession threatened her relationship with religion. Sticking to her stand, the 18-year-old now has opted out from the promotions of her upcoming film, The Sky Is Pink, which also features Priyanka Chopra in lead.
According to the report in Mid-Day, the source close to the film reveals, “With the film eyeing an October 11 release, the makers were planning to kick off the promotions by August-end. it was evident from Zaira’s Facebook post on Sunday that she has decided to severe her ties from films. In keeping with her decision, she has requested the makers to excuse her from the promotional activities. While she was a thorough professional throughout the shoot, she is now firm in her resolve to not be associated with movies in any capacity. The team, including director Shonali Bose, have been informed of her decision.”
Directed By Shonali Bose, The Sky Is Pink is slated to release in October 2019.
