Old habits die hard. Emraan Hashmi, who is seeing a rise in fortunes with every passing film of his, realizes that when it comes to his target audience, there are certain expectations from him. While he could perhaps be the only leading man to indulge into an intimate act moments after a gory killing (remember that sequence with Esha Gupta in Raaz 3?), the tables are being reversed in case of Ek Thi Daayan. This time around it is none less than a ‘daayan’ who seemingly seduces him on screen.
Apparently the steamy outing was shot as a closed door affair for a couple of reasons. While the obvious one centred around ensuring that there was a comfort zone created on the sets, the second reason was to keep the entire episode a well-guarded secret.
“You realise only at the end that which of the three heroines – Konkona Sen Sharma, Kalki Koechlin or Huma Qureshi – is a ‘daayan’. Obviously not all of them can share him and it is one of them who ends up being cosy with Emraan,” says a source.
“Of course he is hardly complaining,” states the female lead who gets into the act with him on screen and obviously wanted to keep her identity secret as the film is a suspense supernatural affair, “If a ‘daayan’ had to exist in today’s times, she had to be smart. The trap is to be a ‘daayan’ and still be beautiful. That breaks the entire stereotype. Of course it is all a mask which is ultimately removed.”
Though Emraan stayed away from indulging in anything steamy with Kalki in Shanghai, he didn’t hesitate one bit when it came to getting seduced by Bipasha Basu in Raaz 3. However he is maintaining complete silence on Ek Thi Daayan.
