Ayushmann Khurrana, Jitendra Kumar led Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is all set to hit the theatres tomorrow and it seems UAE censor board isn’t happy with the film. In India, the film has been granted U/A certificate and the makers were pretty satisfied with the decision.
The film covers what is still considered to be a taboo topic in the country, homosexuality. It showcases coming out of the closet and accepting your sexual preference which might not go well with the people still carrying forward their orthodox beliefs.
Reports on social media state that UAE censor board has asked team Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan to make 25 cuts in the film. The cuts are a mixture of audio-visual and it’s been said that the makers will have to abide by all the cuts to release the film.
UAE censor board is known for its conservative nature and it’s not surprising if they have asked for this amount of cuts.
Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll at the box office. After delivering seven back to back hits with content films, the star is back with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, a quirky film that has a hilarious take on the stereotypes surrounding same-sex relationships in India.
Ayushmann, who has given Indian cinema a genre of its own through his unique, quirky, taboo-topic oriented films, feels just because a film like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is being made in India today, is itself a big success story!
“For me, the success of SMZS is in the fact that a film like this is being made today. It only goes to show the progressiveness of audiences who want to see such content and the film-makers who are not hesitant in making movies about the inclusivity of all humans,” says Ayushmann.
