Amid the on-going pandemic, ever since PM Narendra Modi has announced the PM Cares initiative, several actors have come forward to do their bit. Starting from Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas to Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Kartik Aaryan, amongst others, B’Town has pledged their support. However, it was Akshay Kumar who made a lot of noise for his 25 crores donation, and looks like veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha isn’t really happy with that revelation.
For the unversed, Akshay Kumar had initially announced a donation of whopping 25 crores to the PM Cares fund. The actor also recently contributed another 3 crores to BMC and was massively lauded for his kind act. However, Shatrughan Sinha has a different perspective and feels that there was no need to reveal the amount by actors and turn this into a competition.
It appears like the veteran actor took an indirect dig at the Sooryavanshi actor in a recent interview. “It is downright offensive and demoralizing to hear someone has contributed Rs. 25 crores. Is this to say, you are going judge an individual’s volume of concern for the current crisis by the amount of money he gives away? In no part of the world do celebrities flaunt the amount they give for charity. Charitable causes are always a private affair. I fear showbiz is now in the danger of collapse, so now we have it being replaced by show-off biz,” said Sinha to Bollywood Hungama.

And that’s not it! He further slammed the Industry members for making it like a competition within the boys in a school. “When I hear someone has given Rs. 25 crores I wonder if the amount I will give is of any use. Stop it! Everyone is doing their best. Don’t make this into a ‘mine-is-bigger-than-yours’ school-boys’ competition,” added the actor.
Well, what is your take on the debate? Do you feel actors should reveal their amount of contribution?
