Shahid Kapoor raised the bars with his performance in the remake of South Indian film Arjun Reddy. Kabir Singh was a massive hit and it gave Shahid a lot more credibility than he already had. Moving on from that, Shahid signed yet another south Indian remake Jersey where he will be seen essaying the role of a failed cricketer.
The makers of the film are quite confident about the film and have high hopes for it at the box office. Considering that Shahid Kapoor is a talented actor and he has managed to draw the audience to the theatres in a huge number earlier, getting a good number at the box office for Jersey won’t be a difficult task for him.
Several reports suggest that the producer of the film, Aman Gill has shown extensive trust in Sasha’s capability and have sold the theatrical rights of the film to distributor Rakesh Sippy on a staggering amount. The distributors also have immense confidence in the film’s business and are riding on Shahid’s performance in Jersey.
In Jersey, Shahid Kapoor will essay the role of a talented but failed cricketer named Arjun. The character decides to make a comeback in his late thirties and play for India, in order to fulfil his son’s wish. During the shoot of the film, Shahid had hurt himself and injured his lip.
He kept his fans updated about the injury and informed that the film has taken “a little bit of my blood” but his injury is healing fast. “Thank you for all the concern. Yes, I have got a few stitches but am recovering fast. #jersey has taken a little bit of my blood but a script this good deserves that in the least. Have a good one you all. Keep it real. Make it count. Spread the love. Humanity above all,” Shahid tweeted last Sunday.
Jersey is a Hindi remake of the Telugu hit film of the same name. The Hindi version will be helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had also directed the original movie. The Hindi version will also feature Mrunal Thakur. The film is being presented by Allu Aravind and produced by Aman Gill and Dil Raju.
