The film was originally scheduled to be released on the occasion of Rajinikanth’s birthday on December 12, 2017 but was postponed for unknown reasons. Meanwhile, 2.O, the sequel to Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (first slated for a Diwali 2017 release), was speculated to release in April.
Dhanush released a new poster stating the release date of the movie. The poster looks quite powerful and well it had to be since it has superstar Rajini sitting fiercely.
Take a look:
Kaala is the second consecutive outing of director Pa Ranjith and Rajinikanth. The duo delivered blockbuster film Kabali in 2016. Set in the backdrop of Mumbai, it is billed as a gangster drama. Kaala also boasts of an ensemble cast including Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Samuthirakani and Pankaj Tripathi among others. Actor Easwari Rao will be playing Rajinikanth’s heroine in the film.
According to reports, Kaala deals with the struggles of Tamils from Thirunelveli in Mumbai. And Rajinikanth plays a don, who fight for the rights of an oppressed class.
Rajinikanth would want to avoid a box-office clash between the two films and fans were therefore left wondering in which film they’d get to see the superstar on screen first. Rajinikanth announced his political entry, fans have been speculating on his career as an actor. Will he call it quits or will he sign more films? As of now, the Rajini fan clubs are actively promoting their star’s image as a future political leader..
