Recently, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol joined the BJP and he is contesting elections from Gurdaspur in Punjab. Reacting on it, father Dharmendra has said that he wouldn’t have allowed Sunny to contest the elections if he knew it was against Congress’ Sunil Jakhar.

As quoted by ANI, Dharmendra said, “Balram Jakhar was like my brother. Had I known his son Sunil Jakhar was contesting from Gurdaspur, I would have not allowed Sunny (to contest against him).”

He also said that Sunny cannot debate with an experienced politician like Sunil. He said, “Sunny cannot debate with him as he (Sunil) is an experienced politician and even his father was a very experienced politician, but we come from the film industry. Moreover, we are not here to debate but to listen to the plight of people as we love this land.”

On Sunday, the celebrated actor Dharmendra was in Gurdaspur to campaign for him. “I was watching the roadshow from Mumbai and there was a big crowd. I got emotional. I know people love us but I was surprised by seeing so much love,” he said.

The 7th phase of Lok Sabha elections will take place on May 19 and the fight between Sunny and Sunil will be something to look forward to as Gurdaspur has been a BJP stronghold.
