Watched Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety for the 3rd time with a group of girls and this is when I realized how Kartik Aaryan is one ultra-underrated actor for Bollywood. Started his journey with Pyaar Ka Punchnama and now life has come a full circle with his latest release for this charming lad.
A little backstory to what is going to come: I must be one of those few people who actually watched Pyaar Ka Punchnama in a theatre and much before it gained this cult status over the years. Ironically that movie was unplanned as I was supposed to watch Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides but the show got full. So my group decided to watch any movie instead and we ended up choosing this unheard film (back then) – Pyaar Ka Punchanama.
Till date, I still consider that decision to be one of the best in the journey of my love for Bollywood movies. I watched Pyaar Ka Punchnama 6 times in 3 different cities and 5 different cinema halls with every possible friend I was on speaking terms with. Each time I came out loving many things but one which was common to all was – Kartik Aaryan.
His monologue is still considered as one of the iconic scenes to come out from a Bollywood movie. Everyone surely enjoyed it but what went behind the scenes for it is only known to the man who made this possible. With his debut, he did tick all the boxes of good looks and comic timing but it was to be seen if he is able to comfortably adjust to other genres.

Came in his second film – Akaash Vani. Same director, same leading lady but this time it was not boys VS girls. When people saw Kartik getting emotional in the 2nd half of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, it must be new to them but I knew since Akaash Vani how he can set the bar high for dramatic sequences. Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2, though, had his character moulded in the same template but Kartik managed to add his trademarked quirks to make it even more entertaining.
With Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety coming in the picture, Kartik is all set to step in the majors league and more than that he has proved why he is an to look out for. Yes, we missed a monologue in this one, but for me, his entire performance was one big monologue. Those wicked expressions while confronting Sweety at every juncture, that heartfelt dance in Tera Yaar Hoon Main song, the walk-with-tears in the climax – Kartik had a lot to offer and I am sure this is just a start for him.
