When Jackie Shroff was launched as a lead in Hero, Subhash Ghai already had Meenakshi Sheshadri in mind as his heroine. Now that Jackie’s son Tiger is being launched with ‘Heropanti’, producer Sajid Nadiadwala isn’t carrying similar luck. Dropping plans to rope in someone familiar, he is now contemplating finding the film’s heroine through a nation wide hunt.
“While Tiger is playing a big city boy in the film, his heroine would be a small town girl. Earlier Sajid and director Sabbir Khan had names like Parineeti Chopra, Diana Penty and Nargis Fakhri in mind. However now they have broadened the search. One way to get this rolling is a nationwide talent hunt. All pros and cons are being looked at though since Sabbir is ready with the script while Tiger too is almost through with his training and workshops. If at there is a nationwide hunt, it would have to be rather quick since it won’t be restricted to just big cities. It makes sense to visit interiors too, especially in North India.”
The aforementioned heroines aren’t yet ruled out though since the makers are keeping their options open.
“It would all depend upon the auditions though. It could be anyone, possibly even a star daughter or a complete outsider. Sajid and Sabbir aren’t restricting themselves to any single option. However they don’t want to wait for anyone in particular either since ‘Heropanti’ has go on floors soon”, adds a close associate.
Meanwhile Jackie Shroff too has been sounded about the idea and he may be suggesting a couple of names as well. Sajid and Sabbir were unavailable for comment.
