Ananya Panday made a grand entry in Bollywood with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year 2 alongside Tara Sutaria and Tiger Shroff. She went on to work with Kartik Aaryan and Bhumi Pednekar in Pati Patni Aur Woh and has won several hearts with her performances. To celebrate this feat, Filmfare decided to give away the Best Debut Award to her and daddy Chunky Panday is more than happy about it.
Chunky Panday, who could not make it to the award function, told that he is proud of her daughter who achieved a feat that he could not do 34 years of his acting career. He revealed that he was overjoyed to know that Ananya was nominated for an award and had tears in his eyes when she bagged it.
Speaking to Spotboye, Chunky said, “In 34 years of my career, I have had 4 nominations for films like Tezaab, Aankhen, Housefull and Apna Sapna Money Money but I’ve never won a Filmfare award. So when Ananya was nominated I was overjoyed. And last night, when she won it, I literally started crying. I had tears in my eyes because I just couldn’t believe it. Obviously she deserved it.”
Chunky further revealed that his daughter Ananya had been practising this winning speech ever since her childhood. He said, “I saw a little clip of Bhavna just hugging Ananya and giving her a solid kiss. She was also too excited. You know I have never won that award but my daughter, she had been practising it since she was young. She used to go in front of the mirror and practice that she’s won the Filmfare. And now, the award has finally come to my house,” he said.
Ananya has also been very vocal about her journey and how her daddy has struggled his way up till now. During Rajeev Masand’s newcomers’ roundtable interview, Ananya was heavily trolled for her stand on nepotism.
On the work front, Ananya will be next seen in Khaali Peeli alongside Ishaan Khatter. The Ali Abbas Zafar’s co-production will hit the theatres on June 12.
