Former two-time UFC Heavyweight champion who made his debut back in October last year in WWE had his fans in a state of shock early today following his release from the company amid budget cuts due to coronavirus pandemic. Cost-cutting has been brought in use by several top companies due to the economic slowdown amid the ongoing pandemic, and now it has hit World Wrestling Entertainment as well.
Cain Velasquez was last seen in action against his UFC arch-rival Brock Lesnar at WWE’s Pay Per View Crown Jewel in Riyadh at Saudi Arabia for the prestigious WWE championship.
The match went against Cain’s favour as he lost to Brock pretty badly. As per various reports, Cain Velasquez had been signed in under WWE for multi-year deal, but that the company had this very right to release him or any talent at any given time.
With his release, Cain Velasquez joins the long list of wrestlers with the likes of Kurt Angle, Rusev, Drake Maverick, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Heath Slater, Eric Young, Rowan, Sarah Logan, No Way Jose, Mike Chioda, Mike Kanellis, Maria Kanellis, EC3, Aiden English, Lio Rush, Primo and Epico Nieves and many others.
