Karanvir Bohra Won’t Apologise For Ramayan Meme; Says, “I Didn’t Disrespect The Gods…”

A few days ago, Karanvir Bohra shared a video meme of the show Ramayan. This didn’t go well with netizens who slammed the actor. Following the backlash, a lot of people demanded an apology for disrespecting gods. But Bohra said that he won’t apologize as he hasn’t disrespected any god.

The meme is from a war scene in Ramayan ft. Sunil Lahri aka Laxman. A man in the background is dancing instead of fighting. To make it funny, song Chogada is played in the background. Karanvir Bohra shared the meme on his Instagram page. He captioned it, “I had to post this and we used to think, what an epic war they created, just like @gameofthrones.”

About not apologizing, Karanvir Bohra told Hindustan Times, “I didn’t disrespect the gods because I’m a devout Hindu and a very spiritual being, thanks to my upbringing. The meme was about an extra who was dancing instead of engaging in the war.”

Karanvir Bohra also spoke about what he thought of the show when he grew up watching it. The actor stated, “Back in the day, we thought Ramayan and its portrayal of war were brilliant because we didn’t know anything better.”

Talking about Ramayan, the show stars Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Dipika Chikhlia as Sita and Sunil Lahri as Laxman. It has managed to create and break many TRP records in these 2 months. The show gave Doordarshan its highest TRPs ever.

A few weeks ago, Ramayan made the record gaining the highest TRP worldwide by breaking the records of The Big Bang Theory and Game of Thrones. The actors and fans were elated to see a show from the 90s managing to win heart worldwide when everyone is dealing with the lockdown.
