What happens when the people responsible for upholding the law accidentally find themselves on the wrong side of it? Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar builds its crime drama around this interesting premise, following four police officers who must decide whether to confess to an accidental shooting or find a way to escape the consequences. The film brings together a strong script coupled with brilliant performances.

Can this be called the Drishyam of Parvathy’s career? While the intelligent writing may remind you of the popular franchise, this police drama, rather than offering shocking twists, is a battle of wits between two sharp minds. And this battle takes interesting turns as the investigation progresses.

Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Movie Review: Script Analysis

The film follows the story of Aleena Abraham (Parvathy Thiruvothu), who is offered a police job after her officer husband is martyred in the line of duty. She is posted at the Nattakam Police Station to handle the women’s help desk as a CPO. At the station, she meets ASI Dasan (Sidharth Bharathan), CPO Divya Abhilash (Unnimaya Prasad), and CPO Sreenath Ayyappan (Matthew Thomas). One night, while on duty, the four accidentally shoot a man inside the police station. The cops have two options: admit their crime and go to prison or find a strategic way out.

However, things get difficult with the entry of Crime Branch DySP Harris Meeran (Vijayaraghavan), who grows suspicious of the four cops. The DySP is investigating another murder, and his trail leads him to the Nattakam Police Station. There is also an interesting connection between Aleena and Harris Meeran that makes the case even more engaging. So, do the four lower-ranking cops manage to fool an experienced DySP? What does Aleena do to save herself and her team after the accidental death? All of this and more unfolds in this extremely engaging crime drama.

Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Movie Review: Star Performance

Parvathy Thiruvothu has delivered one of her finest performances in recent times. She is so convincing as Aleena Abraham that it barely feels like acting; instead, it seems as though she is living the character. She portrays the role with subtlety while also giving it a heroic treatment.

Sidharth Bharathan has recently proved that he is an actor with magnetic screen presence, and he plays his part to perfection in this film as well. Matthew Thomas and Unnimaya Prasad deliver strong performances as people not only caught up in a crime but also dealing with how their personal circumstances compound the legal mess they have landed in.

Vijayaraghavan is perfectly cast as the seasoned cop who will stop at nothing to solve crimes. Winning is important to him, and we see that passion in his eyes throughout the film. At one point, he says that cops need to set aside their humanity when solving cases. We see him follow that principle without turning into a mean or ruthless cop.

Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Movie Review: Direction, Music

Director Shahad and writers P. S. Subramanian and Vijesh Thottingal have crafted a tight story that does not wander even for a second. The narrative has several layers and could easily have become confusing or lost its way. However, the way the story progresses draws you in and keeps you guessing what will happen next. This is what sets the film apart from many other cop procedurals. Unless you are part of the force, it may be difficult to predict how the story will unfold. The trio has built an intelligent script that balances logic with commercial appeal, especially towards the end, when the investigation begins to unravel.

Cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj frames the film beautifully, and his work becomes even more interesting when a revelation is just around the corner. The tight frames and attention to detail make the visuals particularly striking. Combined with sharp editing by Chaman Chakko, the cinematography makes this an absolute visual treat. The film does not waste time on unnecessary elements.

The music and background score are composed by Mujeeb Majeed, known for his melodies and atmospheric soundscapes. His work blends seamlessly into the film, which is a great sign. The music keeps the tension alive without overselling it. In certain moments of revelation, Mujeeb’s score elevates the scene and makes the audience react with an “Ohhh! That was smart!”

Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar Movie Review: The Last Word

The film may remind you of Drishyam, but only to a certain extent. Aleena’s motivation for doing what she does is her daughter. While the stakes are different, it is interesting to see how a person can put their best thinking to use when an immediate threat could affect their family. We do not learn much about Aleena’s life before she joins the force, but she comes across as extremely calm and intelligent. Her strength may stem from being a single mother who cannot let anything harm her daughter. It is sobering to see how dangerous a wounded mother can become when her child’s safety is at stake. Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar takes this premise and turns it into a smart, intelligent crime drama.

Pradhama Drishtya Kuttakkar is the result of every department doing its job well. From the tight screenplay and performances to the technical aspects, every department shines in this crime drama. The true winner, however, is the audience, which is treated to an engaging watch. This is definitely a must-watch.
