Only when we thought that the ever-growing world of many Avengers character’s has come to an end, the makers at Marvel Cinema added a new film to the legacy. Black Widow aka Scarlet Johansson, who died in Avengers Endgame, has finally got her own story which is a stand-alone movie focusing on Natasha Romanoff’s blood-stained past. The just-released trailer is giving us the gist of her life and a gripping introduction into what’s to come ahead.
The trailer begins with intense music and we see Scarlett Johansson in her Black Widow avatar. She tells that she wants to forget her past and move on but ends up in Budapest (a location that Clint Barton (Hawkeye) referenced multiple times in various Avengers movies). The Black Widow also encounters Yelena Belova essayed by Florence Pugh, the second Black Widow in the comics series, and is referred to as Romanoff’s sister in the trailer. Black Widow also casts David Harbour, Rachel Weisz.
The trailer is all about kicking some buts and Scarlett as Black Widow is always a treat for the fans. Directed by Cate Shortland, the film is one of the last original Avengers to receive a solo project. Johansson is also acting as executive producer on the film.
For the uninitiated, Scarlett Johansson has already played this character in a string of previous Marvel Cinematic Universe films. The list includes Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow was initially a KGB assassin and became a part of SHIELD, Marvel’s fictional counter-terrorism organisation.
At Comic-Con in July Johansson described the film: “Where we find Natasha in her life at this point is very specific… She really is in a dark place where she’s got no one to call and nowhere to go. She’s really grappling with her own self… In that moment, you actually have to face yourself.”
Black Widow will mark the commencement of Marvel Studios’ Phase 4 with its release on May 1st, 2020.
