Obsession: Curry Barker Recalls Inde Navarrette’s Creepy Bedroom Scene, Says ‘She Did It In One Take’

Obsession has been drawing attention for its unsettling scenes and disturbing take on horror. Among the moments that stand out is a bedroom sequence featuring Inde Navarrette’s character, Nikki. She stands in the corner of a bedroom in the middle of the night. Her strange behavior and emotional breakdown make the scene particularly disturbing. Interestingly, the sequence did not take multiple attempts to film. Navarrette reportedly got it right in just one take.

The scene has now caught attention after director Curry Barker recalled how the actor approached it during the film’s reshoots. He also shared that Navarrette asked him to let her perform without giving her more instructions.

“I remember when she’s in the corner in the bedroom and she’s going, I don’t like my dreams and all that stuff, I talked to her a lot about what that was. She went in and I was like, ‘Okay, so we’re gonna…’ She’s like, ‘Don’t say a word. Just let me do it.’ And I was like, ‘okay,’ because I think she had already heard my spiel over and over again. And I think she just didn’t want to hear it again when she was in the corner about to do it,” Curry recalled.

He further added, “She literally did it in one take, which is the case for a lot of her stuff in this movie. But she did this like creepy, weird, whiny, she knew what I wanted by then that this was actually reshoots. This was almost seven months later. And so she had done the whole—she’d shot the whole movie by now. And so she came in, she did the whiny thing. And I was like, okay, cut. And she went back to her green room because I was like, Oh, we don’t need to do it again.”

The uncut original version of Obsession is now available on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar in English and Hindi.
