While the whole world is still trying to live in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic, filmmaker James Cameron has been super busy. The director, writer, producer, and co-editor of Avatar (2009) has been busy working on his highly anticipated Avatar 2 and despite a recent announcement about the delay in the release date of the film.
Cameron’s producing partner Jon Landau took to Instagram and revealed a moment from the set of the Avatar 2. The picture shows the cast and crew watching three scenes from the movie with near-completed visual effects.
Jon captioned his image: “Jim gathered the crew to show them three scenes with near finished visual effects from Weta Digital. Everyone was excited and pumped up to get back to work. Look forward to when we are able to share with you.”
We are jealous of these lucky guys in New Zealand who are getting to see something we have to wait another year to enjoy. I mean What have we done wrong for not being able to see anything related to Avatar 2 yet?
During a recent interview, Landau spoke about the overall plot of the sequel, telling RNZ, “This is the story of the Sully family and what one does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they go out and explore the different regions of Pandora, including spending quite a bit of time on the water, around the water, in the water.”
The production on the Avatar sequels resumed in New Zealand in June, given that country has been able to almost eradicate the coronavirus. Despite filming restarting, The Walt Disney Company officially delayed the release date of the films. Avatar two, which was earlier to release on December 17, 2021, will now hit screens on December 16, 2022.
Avatar 2 will feature Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana reprising their roles as Jake and Neytiri. The film also stars joined other members from the 2009 film like Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, CCH Pounder, and Matt Gerald.
