Yes, you have read it right. Simon discovered Kelly Clarkson way back on American Idol. She will be the new judge of the NBC reality series and join Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Sofia Vergara during the first live shows of the season.

She said, “My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now but was in an accident and won’t be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows for AGT. Talking about the accident, Simon Cowell was with his girlfriend Lauren Silverman and their 6-year-old son Eric and Silverman’s 14-year-old son Adam on Saturday when he fell off an electric bike at his home in Malibu, California.
“Simon Cowell had a fall from his bike on Saturday afternoon whilst testing his new electric bike in the courtyard at his house in Malibu with his family,” said a spokesperson for the America’s Got Talent host.
