Joaquin Phoenix did grab an Oscar for his legendary performance in 2019’s Joker, but did you know there was a Batman cameo in it? It’s an Easter egg and social media is going berserk after knowing this fact.
The Easter egg lies in the opening scene itself in which we see Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur applying the clown makeup. He is on his vanity table and ironically in that scene we see Batman.
A Reddit user has revealed this Easter egg stating the mirror on Arthur’s table is Batman’s cowl and his face’s silhouette. This surely looks legit and intentional because this can’t be a mere coincidence. Check it out for yourself!
There are many comments on that post. One of which reads, “Man, if this was intentional and sort (of) like an Easter egg, then this was a damn good one.”
Another user finds another Easter egg in the same picture and states, “You got it upside down, flip the picture over and you can even see the lips. And it makes for it to be upside down since the Joker is the antithesis of Batman.”
There’s one more interesting comment from the lot which says, A third user wrote, “I just turned it upside down and screamed. It’s so perfect. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE INTENTIONAL.”
Joker’s director Todd Phillips recently denied doing any kind of Easter eggs in his films. In a conversation with Collider, he had said, “I don’t do Easter eggs. Any Easter eggs anybody finds is a mistake. I don’t understand. Art department sneaking something in that would make me crazy if I knew about it.”
