Yash’s Toxic was said to be the next big thing in the Kannada film industry, and though it grossed over 330 crore globally, it emerged as a big failure due to the high costs involved. Talking specifically about the Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), the film was expected to score big numbers at the box office, but ended up earning less than 40 crore gross. However, it still emerged as the 4th-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time.

Yash has established himself as a popular face in the Telugu market with the KGF franchise. His KGF Chapter 1 performed well in the Telugu states and witnessed peak collections with KGF Chapter 2. The magnum opus emerged as a historic blockbuster and, in fact, is currently the highest-grossing Sandalwood film in the territory. With such a track record, the superstar was expected to reach a new high with his latest period gangster action thriller, but it failed to do so.

How much did Toxic earn in the Telugu states?

Toxic started its run on a good note, grossing 18.5 crore, but due to poor reviews and word-of-mouth, it witnessed one of the biggest declines. After such a start, the film wrapped up its run in just two weeks by grossing a shocking 33.54 crore. Apart from negative audience feedback, it also suffered due to the blockbuster run of Ravi Teja’s Irumudi.

Reportedly, Toxic was chasing a target of around 110 crore gross in the Telugu states to achieve breakeven, but in reality, it earned only 33.54 crore. So, it could only reach 30.49% of its breakeven value, thus turning out to be a disaster for buyers.

Wraps up as the 4th highest-grossing Kannada film

With 33.54 crore, the Yash starrer has ended its run as the 4th highest-grossing Kannada film of all time at the box office in the Telugu states. It surpassed KGF Chapter 1 (24.39 crore) to claim the 4th spot.
