Superstar Mohanlal’s daughter Vismaya made her acting debut last month with Thudakkam. The Malayalam action thriller was released amid much anticipation. Despite being the daughter of Malayalam cinema’s biggest superstar, Vismaya lived her life away from the limelight. Naturally, there was much curiosity around the star daughter and how she would take forward her father’s rich legacy.
Vismaya made her debut under her father’s production house, Aashirvad Cinemas. The film also featured a cameo by Mohanlal that helped draw audiences to theaters. Obviously, it would mark the first on-screen appearance of the father-daughter duo, and the element only added to the curiosity around the film. The film was directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, who directed the 2018 Malayalam film, which was India’s official entry for the Oscars.

Thudakkam has completed 30 whole days at the box office. The film, however, is yet to start its streaming journey. Usually, South movies begin their streaming journey before completing 30 days in theatres. Despite strong competition from Onam releases, Thudakkam managed to attract family audiences and survived to see Day 30 at the box office. In its fourth week, the film’s daily collection was under 5 lakh, with only a few screens available. The net total of the film after 30 days stands at 24.09 crore, which equals 28.43 crore gross. Overseas, the film earned 16.65 crore. This brings the film’s worldwide gross to 45.08 crore.
