The Odyssey is going for the #1 spot in North America’s box office rankings. It has emerged as the #3 highest-grossing Universal movie at the domestic box office. The movie will surpass the domestic haul of The Super Mario Bros Movie this Friday, becoming Universal’s all-time #2 movie in North America. But can it go for the #1 spot among Universal releases at the domestic box office? Keep scrolling for more.

The Odyssey at the North American box office

Christopher Nolan’s movie has collected a solid $1.9 million on its 7th Monday at the North American box office. It dropped by almost 27% from last Monday despite losing 474 theaters last Friday. It is the biggest 7th Monday for R-rated movies, beating Obsession’s $1.5 million 7th Monday gross. The epic grossed $565.8 million so far at the box office in North America [via Box Office Mojo].

Can it surpass Jurassic World to become Universal’s #1 movie domestically?

According to reports, The Odyssey is tracking to earn between $610 million and $630 million at the box office in North America. Jurassic World is the all-time highest-grossing Universal movie at the North American box office. For the unversed, Jurassic World collected $653.4 million at the domestic box office in its lifetime. It is also the 11th-highest-grossing movie domestically of all time.

The Christopher Nolan movie is tracking to end its run below the $650 million milestone at the box office in North America. It will thus not surpass Jurassic World‘s domestic haul as Universal’s #1 film in its original run. The Odyssey would have to suffice by staying at #2 among Universal’s releases.
