In the midst of big-ticket Bollywood releases, the regional movies are playing a role dark horse by taking away the cake in their respective regions. Talking about this week’s release, Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh is looking for a smashing start, while Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjabi Comedy Shadaa has taken a record start in the northern region especially in Punjab.
Speaking about the morning shows, Shadaa has taken a historic start with an occupancy in the range of 75-80% in East Punjab region. With such sort of initial response, the movie is touted to challenge biggies like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, Thugs Of Hindostan and Bharat, in major cities like Amritsar and Jalandhar, and become the highest first-day earner ever. The all-time highest opener in Punjabi cinema is Carry On Jatta 2.
Diljit and Neeru together have a huge star value in Punjab and they have left no stone unturned to promote the film. While social media was busy trolling and making memes on who wore what at the celebrity-studded Met Gala 2019 in New York, actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh and actress Neeru Bajwa created their own “desi” red carpet moment on the sets of their film “Shadaa”.
Diljit also shared a short clip on Instagram in which he can be seen walking hand in hand with Neeru. Dressed up in a pink shiny suit, Diljit posed for fake paparazzi and shared a smile with Neetu, who wore a pink dress.
While announcing the release date of the film, Diljit treated his fans with his reel Met Gala look.
“Shadaa and shadee at the desi Met Gala…,” he captioned the video.
