The grand total of Hindi Medium till now, including the collections of preview screenings, is HK $ 3,247,799 (2.70 crores).

The director of Hindi Medium, Saket Chaudhary, thinks everyone owes Aamir for showing initiative and vision in taking Hindi cinema to a new audience.

After Aamir’s Secret Superstar and Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi BhaijaanHindi Medium was the third Indian film to release in China this year. The Irrfan Khan starrer hit the screens in China on April 4.

Does Chaudhary think his film will be able to do better business than Aamir’s films?

“I think all of us owe Aamir Khan for showing an initiative and vision in taking Hindi cinema to a new and large audience. Without Dangal‘, the Chinese audience may have not been familiar with the new Hindi cinema emerging here that blends entertainment with strong social themes,” Chaudhary told IANS in an email interview.

Aamir was recently asked about the difference in the potential between both the markets.

He said: “I think India has as big a potential as China. I just feel that China has done major investment in the entertainment industry and its administration is also supportive. They have built up a lot of screens, and that is why the business has gone up.

“I think if we build many more theatres here in India, which is such a large country with a huge population, we will get the same kind of growth in the entertainment and film industry. So it is just the matter of building the infrastructure in India.”
