The Disney live-action remake has finally crossed its final major milestone at the worldwide box office. Moana is one of the worst-performing movies at the box office in 2026. The live-action remake is still far from being profitable at the box office. The movie has entered its eighth week, and with such a weak run, it will soon leave domestic theaters as well. Keep scrolling for the deets.

The live-action remake has a massive budget, like many other live-action remakes. Its release window also hindered its box office performance. The Dwayne Johnson starrer had to face The Odyssey a week later, which further dropped its collection. It has at least surpassed the global haul of live-action remake Snow White.

Moana crosses the $300 million milestone worldwide

Moana’s box office collections have dropped below $500k on weekends. It collected just $483k on its 7th three-day weekend at the box office in North America. It lost a harsh 860 screens in North America, declining 61.5% from last weekend. According to Box Office Mojo‘s report, it is running across 620 screens only in North America. On Monday, it collected $42k only on its 7th Monday, pushing the domestic total to $125.7 million. The worldwide total of Moana is $308.2 million.

Box office summary

  • Domestic – $125.7 million
  • International – $182.4 million
  • Worldwide – $308.2 million

It has finally crossed the $300 million milestone at the worldwide box office, and that is its final major global milestone. According to reports, Moana was made on a $250 million budget, meaning it has now at least recouped its production costs. However, simply recouping the budget does not make the film a box office success. It would need to cross its estimated break-even target to become profitable. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to reach that mark.

The live-action remake must earn around $625 million worldwide to break even at the box office. Therefore, the film will end its run as a financial failure. Moana, starring Dwayne Johnson, was released on July 10.
