Mission Mangal Box Office Day 19: Goes Past 2.0 To Become Akshay Kumar’s Highest Grosser!

Mission Mangal has stayed over the 2 crore mark on its third Monday as well, what with 2.50 crore* more coming in. Film’s Friday collections were 2.20 crores, so the kind of hold that it has demonstrated on a weekday is very good as the collections have increased.

There was good benefit that the film gained from the partial holiday of Ganesh Chathurthi due to which the numbers are better than what they would have been on a regular Monday. That said, there is also huge competition from Saaho (Hindi) which is the first choice of audiences by a margin, and that has been making a huge dent in the collections of the Jagan Shakti directed film.

In fact one wonders how much further strong would have been the collections of this Akshay Kumar led film had there been lesser competition during the current week. While the film has collected 189.70 crores* already and would ultimately enter the 200 Crore Club, it could well have covered an even larger distance had its run been uninterrupted by Saaho (Hindi). With this, it has also emerged as Akshay Kumar’s highest grosser roll date as it has crossed 2.0 (Hindi) which has netted 188.55 crores.

That said, the film is a bonafide blockbuster and would continue to retain some screens at least till the arrival of War on 2nd October.
