The week gone by was hardly exciting for ticket sales at the box office, what with the combined collections of CityLights and Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi reading less than 10 crores. Though one hadn’t expected much from either of the two films commercially, these are still low numbers, considering some decent promotion that had gone into their theatrical release.

Though CityLights is the lowest grossing film for Bhatts since Blood Money, what with 6 crores in the first week, the film is still commercially a plus due to costs involved and the fact that satellite and music rights have been sold for around 7 crores. One man who has immensely benefitted from the film though is Rajkumarr Rao, who can boast of it yet another feather in his cap.

On the other hand Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi just couldn’t register itself at the box office. The film collected around 2.5 crore in its first week and this is where the collections would settle down now, considering the fact that Holiday has seen a very wide release, as a result of which no other film stands much of a chance.

Meanwhile, one film which continued its very good march at the box office was Heropanti. The Sajid Nadiadwala-Sabbir Khan film has now crossed 50 crore at the box office, hence turning out to be a bona fide hit. For Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon, this is a great start indeed in Bollywood and one looks forward to a long innings for the duo from this point on.
