In the first week itself, the film hinted at a disastrous box office outcome, and by the end of the second week, it had wrapped up without leaving any trace. For Akshay, it has turned out to be one of the biggest disasters ever, and for Bollywood as well, it’s one of the biggest disasters in recent times. The Bollywood crime thriller was theatrically released on September 11, 2026. It opened to mixed reviews from critics and fared with similar word-of-mouth. Due to weak promotional assets and its reputation as a remake, the film couldn’t build pre-release momentum, and since audience feedback wasn’t entirely in its favor, it failed to create any urgency among moviegoers.

Haiwaan opened at just 3 crore net domestically and wrapped up at a dismal 9.92 crore net at the Indian box office. It equals 11.7 crore gross. Overseas, as well, it was a washout with just 3.35 crore gross. Overall, its closing worldwide box office collection stands at 15.05 crore gross, making it Akshay Kumar’s lowest-grossing film in a long time.

Given the reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan, such numbers are shocking, especially since they were coming off Bhooth Bangla‘s big success. As per Koimoi’s parameters, the film secured a flop verdict.
