As projected, Digger is experiencing a poor opening weekend, and it would be lower than its already pessimistic prediction. The movie is set to become one of the lowest opening weekends for the Tom Cruise starrer in almost two decades of his career. The dark comedy will continue Warner Bros Pictures’ perils at the box office. Tom is also going through a rough patch after two of his Mission: Impossible movies failed at the box office. Scroll below for Digger’s box office performance in North America in its opening weekend.
The movie will not be saved by Tom Cruise’s star power, either. The industry experts have already declared the verdict. It is different than what the Mission: Impossible star usually does. However, it seems the Hollywood star is losing his edge after the underwhelming box-office performances of Dead Reckoning and The Final Reckoning; Cruise needs a hit badly.
Digger at the North American box office
Allejandro G Inarittu’s R-rated comedy drama landed at #3 in the box office rankings in North America. It is even below Resident Evil, which is in its third frame. According to Box Office Mojo, Digger collected just $3.4 million on its opening day at the North American box office. It includes $1.2 million in Thursday previews.

The opening-day collection is slightly higher than WB’s other 2026 disaster, The Bride, which grossed $3 million. It is below Napoleon‘s $7.7 million, Vanilla Sky’s $8.9 million, and even Civil War’s $10.8 million opening day collections. It is also headed for a disappointing domestic debut as well.
Opening weekend update
According to reports, Digger was initially tracking to earn around $15 million in its opening weekend at the North American box office. But that prediction has dropped even lower than that. It is now expected to earn between $7 million and $10 million over the three-day opening weekend at the domestic box office. It will reportedly be the lowest opening weekend in around two decades in Tom Cruise’s long career.
Tom Cruise starrer Digger was released in the theaters on September 25.
