Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna are gearing up for the release of their film Ranabaali. This marks their first film together since their wedding earlier this year. The couple had previously shared the screen in the Telugu films Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Both films were released before the pandemic. With just two films, Vijay and Rashmika’s on-screen pairing became so popular that sparks flew between the two off-screen as well.

Both Vijay and Rashmika had very different career trajectories post-pandemic. While we await the magic Ranabaali creates as the couple reunites on screen after seven years, here’s a look at the box-office performance of both actors.

Vijay Deverakonda Box Office

The actor earned a name for himself with films such as Arjun Reddy, Dear Comrade, and Geetha Govindam. However, post-COVID, he has done just four films so far. With all four films, he could not secure a hit status. His last theatrical release was Kingdom in 2025. The film failed to recover its heavy budget of 130 crore. The same was true of his much-anticipated pan-India movie Liger. The total amount invested in these four films post-pandemic is 360 crore. However, the recovery rate is just 45%.

Out of the 13 films, 4 crossed the 200 crore mark at the Indian box office. Only 5 of the 13 films earned less than 100 crore net in India. The total collection from all 13 films amounts to 3432 crore.

More About Ranabaali

The film is an important one for Vijay Deverakonda. Not only does it reunite him with his wife on screen, but it also needs to change his box-office status. While Rashmika Mandanna has had a dream run at the box office post-pandemic with blockbuster films, Vijay has not had the same luck. With Ranabaali being touted as a grand period drama, all eyes are on whether this Dussehra release will turn the tables for its lead actor.

Director Rahul Sankrityan describes his film as an alternate-history film, which means it takes a part of history and reimagines how events could have played out. The upcoming film is set against the backdrop of the 19th-century famine in southern India under British rule. Vijay plays a fictional character who is also the savior of his people.
