John Abraham’s I-Day release, Batla House, has finished its extended 1-week long run at the box office today and has been making collections at a decent pace. The movie starring Mrunal Thakur as the female lead with its Day 8 collections has managed to now surpass John’s own, Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran.
Batla House has made collections of 65.84 crores till now and surpassed the lifetime numbers of John’s Parmanu: The Story Of Pokhran which raked in 65.36 crores, that too within its first week. That indeed is an achievement for John and team, and with coming days, let’s see how many more surprises does this real-life drama manages to treat us with!
Directed by Nikkhil Advani, Batla House is inspired by the alleged police encounter in Delhi in the wake of the 2008 serial blasts. John essays the character of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who spearheaded the operation.
Nikkhil is all set to return with his “Batla House” star John Abraham in the period sports drama “1911“. He revealed that shooting for the forthcoming film will begin at the end of next year.
“‘1911‘ is based on a true story. It is about a football match that took place between the Mohun Bagan Club of India and the East Yorkshire Regiment in the year 1911. It’s one of the most important events that ignited the freedom movement in India,” said Nikkhil, adding: “It’s a script that John Abraham and his team have been working on for the last five years. I believe Shoojit Sircar was going to direct the film but it didn’t work out between him and John, but I loved the idea and the period of the film.”
