Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who marked the completion of 30 years of his hit crime drama “Parinda” on Sunday, announced his new directorial project, “Shikara“.
“Shikara – A love letter from Kashmir to release on 21st February 2020. From director Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Presented by Fox Star Hindi,” read a post on the official Twitter handle of Vidhu Vinod Chopra Films.
Shikara also marks the return of the director to his hometown Srinagar, after the Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta-starrer Mission Kashmir (2000). The filming for “Shikara” reportedly began in March 2018 in Kashmir.
The movie is being produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra only, however the names of the stars featuring in the film are yet to be revealed.
Interestingly, this film will clash with not one but three other Bollywood movies that are already scheduled to release on February 21, 2020. Emraan Hashmi and Amitabh Bachchan’s starrer thriller ‘Chehre’, Vicky Kaushal’s horror drama ‘BHOOT: Part One – The Haunted Ship Movie’ and Anurag Basu’s untitled next have already booked the same date. It will be one crowded Friday for box office.
This is not the first that Vidhu Vinod Chopra is making a film involving Kashmir as one of the major elements in the theme. He had earlier helmed the action thriller film “Mission Kashmir” in 2000.
