The brutal killing of African-American George Floyd sparked a global movement to stop racism. While celebrities far and wide have supported the cause, many celebs closer home to have lend their support. While celebrities like Abhay Deol and Priyanka Chopra have been vocal about the issue, the lastest to join in is former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan.
However, Irfan Pathan has opened up about a different kind of racism. While the #blacklivesmatter trends globally, Pathan feels that racism is not just restricted to color. It also happens on other levels. The former fast bowler took to his social media handle, to raise his voice against racism.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Irfan Pathan tweeted, “Racism is not restricted to the colour of the skin. Not allowing to buy a home in a society just because u have a different faith is a part of racism too… #convenient #racism.” However, in his interview to the Telegraph, the cricketer was quick to clarify that this was just an observation and not something he had faced personally.

Meanwhile, Abhay Deol had recently in a series of social media posts questioned all the Indian celebrities who stood for George Floyd’s murder protests, but do not stand up for atrocities that happen in the country. He also decided to pull up celebs who have been saying #blacklivesmatter, but also endorse fairness creams!
Several others celebs like Priyanka Chopra, tv actress Nia Sharma too have lend their support to the protests over the brutal killing of George Floyd.
